Florida House Palm Beach is a narrative about the challenges of a house on the side of a hill.
When presented with difficult ground conditions, with unique heritage and environmental considerations, and tight council controls, the project looks towards opportunities rather than limitations of the requirements that govern it.
Separation, height controls and visual impact requirements meant that the house would take the form of a semi-cantilevered structure that protrudes out of the hillside, over the top of a grounded solid base. This considered manoeuvre unlocks a series of views, solar access and unique relationships to the ground plane that capitalises on the site constraints.
